The 10 best PS4 games under $10

Due to the popularity of the 10 best PS4 games under $20, it’s probably worth pushing the boundaries of value even further and discovering the 10 best PS4 games available for under $10.

There’s a mix of full games and PSN Store games on this list, so you’ll need an internet connection to get the full value.

This selection shows that even if you’re gaming on a budget, there is some real quality available to you.

So let’s take a look at the 10 best PS4 games under $10…

10. God of War 3 Remastered

Arguably the Playstation 3’s best game enjoys a devoted remastered edition on the PS4. Much better than the lacklustre God of War Ascension, Kratos’ third adventure sees him battling all the big names of the Pantheon, including the heavy hitting Zues, Poseidon and Hades.

The graphics were already pretty special on the PS3 hardware, but the remaster pushes things further, rendering the mythical monsters at a faultless 1080p at 60fps.

It’s an unmissable adventure if you haven’t played it already, and is the perfect appetiser to tide you over until the new Nordic God of War announced last year.

9. Battleborn

Battleborn initially struggled to find an audience when it was released alongside the global phenomenon that is Overwatch, due to a similar aesthetic and gameplay mechanics.

It is, however, an excellent game – and Gearbox Software have recently made the smart move of making it absolutely free to download and play.

You’ll only have to pay for in-game transactions if you wish, and these are largely cosmetic.

As a result Battleborn is probably the best value free-to-play game on the Playstation Network.

8. Battlefield 4

Before Battlefield turned back the clock to World War 1, Battlefield 4 was the pinnacle of the series’ modern warfare games.

Stunningly rendered with EA’s Frostbite engine, Battlefield 4 looks beautiful on the PS4, and plays superbly too. The series’ trademark seamless transitions between FPS run-and-gun gameplay to vehicular combat is as satisfying as ever in Battlefield 4, and it’s under $10 on the PSN Store right now.

7. A Boy and his Blob

A beautiful and underrated indie title, a Boy and His Blob initially debuted on the original Wii back in 2009, but has been lovingly updated for the PS4.

It’s a 2D puzzle platformer in which you control a young boy and his blobby sidekick, solving ingenious puzzles by feeding your blob various things.

It’s hard to describe the satisfaction when you play this game, but it’s honestly well worth playing if you enjoy 2D platformers.

It’s available on the PSN Store now.

6. The Unfinished Swan

This one is the most out-there entry on the list, and certainly isn’t for everyone, but it’s a really unique and interesting experience if you’re willing to give it a go.

The plot is simple: you’re chasing after a swan that has escaped a painting. The game takes you through a heavily stylised black and white world, solving puzzles and searching for clues in your environment.

It’s not without its faults, but it’s a fascinating experience and unlike anything else out there.

Unfinished Swan is available on the PSN Store now.

5. Resogun

This one is a real beauty. Resogun is a classic voxel-based scrolling shooter, harking back to classics of the genre like X2 and Ikaruga.

The mechanics are tight, the graphics are gorgeous and the challenge is very real. The game perfects the ‘easy to play, difficult to master’ design that games like this need in order to thrive.

If you’ve ever been a fan of scrolling shooters, Resogun is the best the PS4 has to offer.

It’s available on the PSN Store now.

4. Assassins Creed Unity

Unity was criticised at launch due to a number of bugs players experienced, and sadly this somewhat tainted its legacy.

Now that Ubisoft have fixed the bugs however, it’s actually a beautiful and ambitious game, and certainly one of the better games in the series. Renaissance Paris is rendered beautifully and scaling Notre Dame is one of the series true highlights.

Unity is a must for fans of the series, and really anyone who’s wanted to assassinate people during the French Revolution…

It’s available here from Amazon.

3. Tales from the Borderlands

Another brilliant and unique game, Tales form the Borderlands is Telltales episodic take on 2K Games’ Borderlands universe.

The episodic nature is, as usual, extremely well handles by Telltale, with choices and actions taken in earlier episodes having an impact on the story in later segments.

The trademark humour of the Borderlands universe is not only faithfully recreated, but executed better than the main Borderlands games, with the series’ characters coming alive in the episodes.

If you enjoyed the Borderlands games or any of Telltales’ other efforts, this is a must.

Tales from the Borderlands is available from Amazon here.

2. Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare

When PopCap announced they were turning their smash hit tower defence game into a first-person shooter, many were understandably dubious.

Fortunately though, the result is a deep, balanced and addictive shooter that hits all the right notes. The challenges are fun and unique, and the character models retain all of their charm from the tower defence games.

Grab it from Amazon here.

1 Transformers Devastation

If you haven’t heard of Transformers Devastation you could be forgiven, as no review copies were sent to publishers, hence a lack of buzz for the game on release.

It’s an absolute gem though, employing the pre-Michael Bay era Transformers in a well polished and action packed third-person hack-n-slash-athon. It’s a faithful love letter to classic Transformers, and really a must-play for fans of the series.

It’s available here from Amazon.
