I’ve never been one to say no to jumping on a hot-trend bandwagon, so I’ve had a few plays with ChatGPT and though I’d ask what it deemed were the best Playstation 4 games of all time.

What’s is the AI’s taste in games like? Do I agree with its conclusions?

Let’s find out the games it listed, what it said about them, and whether I agree with them:

10. The Last of Us Part II

What ChatGPT said: A post-apocalyptic action-adventure game developed by Naughty Dog, that serves as a sequel to the original game, following Ellie as the protagonist in her journey across a United States ravaged by a fungus pandemic. The player controls Ellie as she seeks revenge on those responsible for the death of her surrogate sister. Through Ellie’s journey, the player must fight against hostile human and infected enemies, and make choices that affect the story. The game is critically acclaimed for its storytelling, performances, and visual and gameplay design.

Is ChatGPT right? It’s hard to argue with this choice, with the Ps4’s swansong title lauded by critics. It’s debateable whether or not this should be in ahead of the remastered first game, but all in all a good start to the list.

9. Red Dead Redemption 2

Is ChatGPT right? Again no arguments here. RDR2 is of the finest games ever made, let alone on the PS4, the only issue I have is that it should probably be higher in the list!

Is ChatGPT right? Undoubtedly. Arguably should be higher on this list fighting for number 1, for many Bloodborne represents the finest iteration of the Soulslike formula. A PS5 remake should really be done!

5. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Is ChatGPT right? This is the first debateable one on the list. It’s no doubt an impressive game, but the fifth best ever for the PS4 is perhaps too high praise for Drake’s fourth outing. It’s not as good as the PS3’s Uncharted 2, for instance.

Is ChatGPT right? This is more like it – The Witcher 3 is a shining example of how to do an immervice aciton RPG, with some of the ifnest storytelling ever. A must play.

3. Horizon Zero Dawn

Players control Aloy, a skilled hunter and archer, who sets out to discover the truth about her past and the world around her.

Is ChatGPT right? Another debateable one. HZD is a good solid open world game, but has been bettered several times since by PS and non-PS games. Interestingly ChatGPT seems to be getting a bit bored here, giving us less detail the further down the list we get.

2. Persona 5 Royal

What ChatGPT said: An updated version of Persona 5 that features new content such as new characters, new ending and new gameplay features.

Is ChatGPT right? Hold on – you’ve already used a spot for the vanilla PS5, now you’re adding in Golden as its own entry? Clearly GPT is a huge JRPG fan. Golden is no doubt the definitive version of P5, so hfair enough having it on the list, but I don’t think it’s the second best PS4 game ever.

1. Marvel’s Spider-Man

What ChatGPT said: A action-adventure game where players control Spider-Man as he battles criminals in New York City and learns more about himself as Peter Parker.

Is ChatGPT right? Another bored and brief response from GPT to round out the list, but Spider-Man is a worthy contender for the top spot. A brilliant open world NYC and lovely web-slinging controls, Spidey has never been better on a console.

Conclusion

Despite a couple of quesitonable choices, and a repetition of Persona 5, it’s a pretty impressive list from ChatGPT, considering they cant physically hold a controller. Not bad.
