ChatGPT has taken the world by storm this year, and people have done impressive things with it – from building websites to writing novels to impersonating celebrities. But what happens when we give it an actual challenge, and ask it to recommend the 10 best games to apear on the Xbox One?

Here are the games it suggested, along with my assessment of each choice:

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

What ChatGPT said: An action role-playing game developed by CD Projekt Red. It is the third and final entry in the series, players control Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter, as he embarks on a journey to find his adopted daughter and protect her from the Wild Hunt, an otherworldly force determined to capture her. The game features an open-world environment, in which the player can engage in main story and side missions, explore the world, and interact with various characters. The game has a strong emphasis on player choice, with multiple different paths to complete quests and a number of endings. The game is praised for its storytelling, characters, and gameplay mechanics.

Is ChatGPT right? It’s off to a good start with Witcher 3. A game-changer of an action RPG, CD Project Red’s masterpiece of a game is still great to experience today, with some of the best immersive narrative in any game ever made.

Is ChatGPT right? Another strong choice, Rockstar’s much-anticipated sequel was a technical marvel when released, boasting levels of detail never before seen. A massive game, it’s worth playing if you haven’t already.
Halo 5: Guardians

Is ChatGPT right? That’s more like it – the Forza Horizon games have become the gold standard of arcade racers, and you can’t go wrong with Horizon 4. With stunning visuals and tight, fluid gameplay, Horizon 4 is the best racer on the system.

Is ChatGPT right? No arguments here. Ori is up there with the likes of Hollow Knight as one of the best 2D metroidvanias of the generation. Lovely visuals, fun controls and good progression system make for a treat of a game.

Players control the titular Cuphead, who must collect debts for the devil by defeating various bosses. The game is known for its challenging difficulty, unique visuals and its jazz-inspired soundtrack.

Is ChatGPT right? Yes, yes and more yes. One of the most distinct and unique games for the Xbox One, Cuphead is as beautiful as it is difficult. It’s a hardcore boss-rush challenge with great controls and wonderful hand-drawn cartoon visuals. A must-see and play.
Assassin’s Creed Origins

It is set in Egypt and tells the story of Bayek, a Medjay, who fights against the corrupt regime and protects the people. Is ChatGPT right? Origins is a good game. Is it one of the 10 best games on the Xbox One? Debateable. It marked the series’ departure from traditional AC formula to a more generic open-world adventure, and has some real highlights, but by today’s standards it’s not that amazing.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

Is ChatGPT right? An interesting one – Hellblade is a visually striking unique third-person adventure. It’s good, not great. I’m not sure I’d put it in the top 10 for the console.
Minecraft

What ChatGPT said: A sandbox game developed by Mojang Studios, it allows players to build, explore, and survive in a block-based world. The game features both survival and creative modes. It has become one of the best-selling video games of all time, and it has also been used in educational settings. Minecraft has been praised for its creativity, multiplayer functionality, and its ability to inspire players to learn about programming.

Is ChatGPT right? I suppose this is a good shout – who can deny Minecraft’s influence and quality? It just feels like quite a boring, generic choice, as you can play Minecraft on everything these days. Technically an ok choice, but a boring one!

Conclusion
ChatGPT has done reasonably well here. But for a couple of stinkers (Halo 5? Come on now), and some dull choices, it’s hard to argue with most of this list. Some notable absentees include GTA V, Celeste, Dark Souls 3, NeiR, Stardew Valley and Halo: MCC.
